Class 5 stands for 3/4" minus (3/4" rock with fines)
Which is the combined specs for optimal compaction results for a base structural material.
Used for landscaping base, driveways, concrete or asphalt base, walking path, atv trails and more.
Most commonly used for gravel driveways.
The 3 most common types of class 5 are the following,
•Trap Rock
Blue slate colored material (does have a tan tint at first) its qualities are minimal dust, remains easily workable, and positive aesthetics.
The draw backs are it stays a little more loose and is not recommended on steap grade.
•limestone,
The yellow gold material.
Its qualities are excellent compaction results, it becomes tacky when wet, therefore works well to work against erosion and maintain shape longer.
Its drawback is when wet it tracks in on foot traffic and vehicle traffic.
•recycled concrete
Concrete gray in color.
It is the most commonly available material, the Only one that does not require digging in the ground to acquire, it has excellent compaction results, is a stable longterm base material for construction of any sort, and is typically the most cost effective.
Its drawbacks are, material can be dustier, and an occasional small piece of metal can be in material from mesh in concrete before recycling.
Magnet takes most of it out though.
To acquire the volume needed, utilize a measuring tool to find length, width and depth.
Use a square foot to cubic yard calculator to enter in measurements.
(Found online)
1 cubic yard weighs about 1.
5 tons.
To achieve needed tons, take the cubic yards x 1.
5 = tons needed.
(Or call us and we can do the math!)
We have a
16.
5 ton or less delivery truck.
dump truck does require a firm flat area to dump, aswell as overhead clearance.
Tailgate spreading is available on the 16.
5 ton truck if your area is suitable to do so, but does not achieve a perfect grade, just lowers the time spreading by machine, and will still need to be graded.
