Job Purpose and Impact
The Regulatory and Scientific Affairs Leader will lead a team who interprets and defines regulatory requirements as they apply to our food products; including proactively creating processes and procedures that ensure compliance of our food products.
We seek an experienced professional who will proactively assess the risk and opportunities related to regulations, influence emerging regulatory changes and effect pertinent changes within the North America food business units.
In this role, you will lead a team who investigates and resolves compliance problems, questions or complaints received from other units of the company, customers, government regulatory agencies, etc.
Key Accountabilities
Ensure business activities comply with food regulations and laws, working with regulatory agencies to provide guidance and advice.
Develop plans and deliver results in a fast-changing business or regulatory environment, while leading and developing a team of experienced professionals, coaching and making decisions related to talent management hiring, performance and disciplinary actions.
You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs.
Provide input to marketing and/or research and development on new product opportunities as a result of changes in the regulatory environment.
Develop and implement programs designed to increase employee awareness and knowledge of compliance policies.
Audit or evaluate current policies, procedures and documentation to comply with government laws and regulations.
Develop budgets, schedules and performance standards.

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in science, legal or business field - Advanced Degree in Toxicology
Broad knowledge of operations and relevant business areas
Four or more years of supervisory experience
Five or more years of regulatory experience in the food industry
Experience working with government agencies (CFIA, FDA, etc.
)
Experience working with food trade organizations (IFAC, CBA, NCA, etc.
)
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
Broad knowledge in regulatory affairs
Minimum of six years of related work experience
Food industry regulatory experience
