About the Position Watch our promotional video to learn more about the Water Department and these positions! ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS POSITION: The current openings are located at Saint Paul Regional Water Services (SPRWS), 1900 Rice Street, Saint Paul, MN.
SPRWS provides drinking water and related services to the City of Saint Paul in addition to several surrounding suburban communities.
This position provides an opportunity to perform important and meaningful work in a team-oriented environment.
Training and future career advancement opportunities are available.
The position typically performs maintenance tasks on the water supply and distribution systems.
Including the following: Installation of water mains, hydrants, valves, and water services as part of a construction crew while gaining additional experience through our training program.
Work is performed almost exclusively outdoors, involving exposure to rain, snow, cold, heat, road dust, asphalt, diesel fumes, road chemicals, and traffic noise.
Daily work involves standing, stooping, walking, and lifting objects weighing up to 90 pounds.
Duties also include climbing ladders and driving in trucks to and from job sites.
Hazards can include working in heavy traffic, operating power tools and equipment, and working around heavy equipment.
The normal work schedule is Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.
m.
to 3:30 p.
m.
Overtime work is an expectation of the position and includes reporting to work during emergency conditions such as when water main breaks occur.
This position may experience a temporarily layoff from December 1st through March 15th during the first two years of employment.
As additional openings arise and seniority climbs, year round positions become available.
Employees in this title remain on City health insurance and receive unemployment during layoff periods.

Position Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license.
