*Designer Products, LLC * *Job Description * Job Title: Purchasing and Shipping Associate Department: Production Reports To: Production Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt *Summary*: Procures raw materials, components, tooling, equipment and purchases services at the appropriate quality, lowest price and within acceptable time frames by performing the following duties.
Schedules shipping of orders.
Responsible for quality/inspection process.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities*: include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
Purchasing * Purchase raw material, tooling, and components for custom and standard inventory materials, office supplies, and equipment needed for day-to-day operations.
* Prepare and submit complete and accurate purchase orders according to company guidelines.
* Prepare and submit requests for quotes for items to be purchased.
* Collect bids from multiple suppliers to purchase materials, supplies, and services on optimal price and availability terms.
* Build and maintain good business vendor relationships and seeks out new or alternate vendors as required.
* Communicate with suppliers as required on non-conforming goods, determine root cause/corrective action, and maintain timely shipments.
* Process returned purchased items that are not acceptable or do not meet specifications.
* Maintain an open purchase order report and follow up with suppliers as needed to ensure timely delivery of orders.
* Assist with inventory.
* Resolve order and billing discrepancies in coordination with accounting vendors and responds to inquiries on any material received.
* Ensure vendors can provide products that meet the necessary internal technical requirements.
* Compile, organize, and maintain records and metrics as required – including a purchasing register and library.
* Assist the Finance department in cash management by updating daily a list of cash needs for purchases and forecasting purchasing needs.
* Initiate and distribute change notices for purchased items such as changes in specifications, part numbers, and sources.
* Achieve and maintain a high level of product and relevant business process knowledge.
Receiving * Responsible for Receiving daily.
* Sign, inspect and place in proper inventory location daily deliveries.
* Communicate information on daily deliveries to Finance for inventory management purposes.
Shipping * Collects shipping bids.
* Arranges shipment for on-time deliveries.
Takes action to minimize or prevent delays.
* Takes appropriate action in response to damaged shipments.
* Coordinates with installers, customers and other interested parties.
* Responsible for inspection processes prior to orders shipping Manufacturing Support * Support the Production Manager as needed in department administration and special projects.
Administrative Support * Administrative duties include but are not limited to: fielding customer calls, forwarding sales calls to TMs, other clerical or office related functions.
Perform other duties as apparent or assigned.
*Supervisory Responsibilities: * This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

*Education/Experience: * High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience in a raw material or component environment is required.
*Language Ability: * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
*Math Ability: * Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
*Reasoning Ability: * Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
*Computer Skills: * To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, inventory software; internet software, order processing systems; manufacturing software, database software, accounting software, and content management systems.
