Key Responsibilities:
The Press Operator is responsible for the following:
Properly wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is appropriate for the task and required by policy.
Assure proper housekeeping is maintained and follows all SQF requirements and General Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Within the limits of food safety and quality guidelines, employee has authority to take action and make decisions.
Assure quality checks, tests, and procedures are carried out as required and follows all SQF requirements
Their own personal safety and the safety of others.
Keep machines and work areas in a neat, clean and orderly condition, and free of hazards.
Run the press efficiently, with very high quality and low waste.
Assuring that quality checklists, production reports, and any other necessary documents are properly filled out.
Assuring that all procedures outlined in this Job Description are followed.
Organizing the pre-set up and obtaining materials necessary to start the next order in a timely manner.
Has read, understands, and follows, all related Work Instructions as provided in the Work Instruction Manual.
Directing the work and the training of their crew in a safe and efficient manner.
The Press Operator can make suggestions for the additional training of individuals on their crew to the Plant Manager I or Shift Supervisor.
Reporting any damage to equipment to the Plant Manager I or Shift Supervisor as soon as it occurs.
Able to make press-side adjustments to inks for color-matches.
Communicating all pertinent information to the Press Operator on the next crew.
Understands and able to follow a write-up.
Complete training as required.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested by Shift Supervisors.
Education: High School diploma.
Training: Trade school.
On the job with qualified Press Operator.
Experience: Press experience recommended.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently.
Must have normal color vision acuity.
Must be able to stand for long periods as well as climb ladders occasionally.
Must possess the manual dexterity to successfully operate various measuring devices.
Must be able to work with solvent and water-based inks.
Must be able to pass background and drug testing.
